Mold Testing 101: What to Expect.

Laboratory Analysis of Mold

After taking samples from around your home, our technicians will send it to a lab for analysis.

There are two goals of a mold testing. One is to find out if there is actually mold in the house and where is it growing. And two, where is the water problem that is causing the mold. This is can be up to a four part process. In the best cases, we are allowed to begin remediation immediately after determining there is a mold problem. But for some cases, we must perform several tests in order to find out where the mold is growing and why it is there.

If you think you have mold in your house or would like to speak with us about mold testing, call Environmental Consulting and Contracting Group.

Mold Testing

Our mold test begins with a direct analysis of the area, also called “surface sampling.” We will collect a sample from your home and send it to an independent laboratory for analysis. If there isn’t any fungal growth in the sample, we do not take further action. But if growth is detected, we will determine what type of mold is present in your home. By determining the type of mold, we can determine where the mold might be growing and what building materials are affected by the species. If this process does not determine that a remediation is needed, we will move onto the next step: Air Quality Testing.

Air Quality Testing

Some fungal organisms are actually microscopic and cannot be seen with the naked eye so we use the air test to determine the extent of your mold problem and what techniques will work best to correct the issue. This test will help us ascertain where to begin the mold remediation process. Once this test is over, we can begin remediation on your property.

Clearance Testing

This test is completed after remediation. This test is to make certain that all the mold is gone and that remediation was successful. Most people are not aware that mold is a naturally occurring organism. It is natural to have mold living inside your home because of the natural building material and transfers that move inside the home whenever the inhabitants walk in or outside. However, it is not until mold is growing inside the home that mold becomes a serious problem. Clearance testing will determine if the air quality is back to its natural balance and is suitable or if another test is needed.

Unlike other mold specialists, Environmental Consulting and Contracting Group focuses on all aspects of mold testing and remediation. Our mold specialists are trained and certified on how to test and remediate the mold growing in your home.
